About QCP
My name is Melvin. I'm the CEO of QCP. QCP is a digital asset partner, and we've been partnering with clients by providing solutions that are customized to help them navigate this very, very, challenging and difficult space. We do it by helping them develop investment solutions and on- and off-ramps. We've been able to do this because we have a deep understanding of the network, the technology, and the counterparties. Blockchain is about trust, and trust can only be built through human relationships and certainty of roles and responsibilities.
Why QCP chose Fireblocks
I think as you navigate across the various geographies, you have to appreciate the cultures, the people, and how people like to interact and build relationships. I think that's exactly what we found in our partnership with Fireblocks over the years, that they are people first, and the technology is just an enabler. This is very, very similar to how we look at business and how we look at the world of navigating digital assets and the blockchain because there are a lot of information gaps. There are anxieties. And I think, collectively, QCP and Fireblocks have been really putting ourselves forward to try to solve these issues.
When we first began, I think the business was still relatively primitive. I thought the technological advancement that Fireblocks brought to the party at the start was something that we were looking for, something that's seamless. While we'll say multisig is the word that we use today, I think back in the day, it wasn't something that was very real, but it came to fruition.
I think it was the scalable technology for us. I think that was really important. We were never really interested in building these things and the reason is because we believe in playing to our strengths. And our strengths are in navigating the markets, helping our clients execute well.
We found a good partner, and Fireblocks has been able to help us achieve all these outcomes without worrying too much about what's going to happen, the assets that we've got there. So I think that has helped us to grow in the way we look at the business.
How QCP uses Fireblocks
Firstly, we started to use Fireblocks as a simple wallet infrastructure.
Then we proceeded to a bit more of a payments and settlements kind of approach. But I think one of the biggest areas of service I think Fireblocks has done in listening to the customer has been in the area of the Off Exchange product. I spoke about it as a need back at the first Spark (Fireblocks’ annual customer event). And here we are at the 3rd one with a product that's fully developed and live and running and successful.
I think that is why we value Fireblocks as a partner for our business because they listen to what we need and they allow us to build our business on the Network that they have. And, that’s where we want to partner with Fireblocks is how do we create the infrastructure in a way that is able to cross geographical and jurisdictional boundaries, and still provide the same level of service and certainty. Now the global regulations are not actually unified, but the technology stack can create a unified version of the regulations. So this is something that I'm interested in working together on. How do we use the technology stack that's available and how do we lead regulations in a way that's unified so that business across jurisdictions can be very simple and efficient.
I think with Fireblocks, we've been able to scale the business, across the many products that they've put in their product suite. I think there have been many entrants offering single product solutions, but I think not many have come up with a multiproduct solution, like Fireblocks. And that allows us to kind of scale without thinking too much about what the needs of the market is or or the challenges with market structure. We focus on our jobs, and Fireblocks has been able to help us with the product suite.
